Bio:

Josh Tiessen is a teenage professional fine artist from Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada.    Considered one of the worlds top ten prodigy artists (Huffington Post) and the only known male prodigy artist in North America (Dr. J. Ruthsatz, international child prodigy expert).    Tiessen was juried in as the youngest member of International Guild of Realism (IGOR) ranked among the worlds foremost realist artists, and Artists for Conservation (AFC) an elite group of the top 500 wildlife and nature artists worldwide.  Mentored by masters, Tiessen has exhibited his work for 7 years in 30 exhibitions including the National Gallery of Canada and now exhibits internationally, having sold over 60 original works and hundreds of limited edition giclee prints to private and corporate Canadian and international collectors.  Featured in 90 magazine and newspaper articles and on TV, speaking and teaching at 20 venues, making 40 invited art donations to charitable organizations and starting his own Arts for a Change Foundation, he has garnered 30 awards and honours including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and Canadas Top 20 Under 20 for his artistic accomplishments and philanthropic work.  In spite of this early success, Tiessen humbly acknowledges that his artistic talent is a gift from God.    His artistic style is referred to as high realism and he delights in showing the beauty and diversity of creation, and the image of God in human creativity.  Nature and wildlife are often Tiessen's subject matter, but the young artist is also fascinated by the weathering effects of nature on architectural structures.  Distinguishing features of his work are shadows, trompe loeil and details painted around edges of gallery canvas and braced Baltic Birch.
